Thoughts on Afghanistan God bless the US Military. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Afghanistan blows. It's not even a country. There are no roads, there's no infrastructure, there's no government. This is an inhospitable, rock pit ruled by eleventh century warring tribes. There are no jobs there like we know jobs. The locals, all of 'em, are Huns... Actual, living Huns.. They LIVE to fight. It's what they do. It's ALL they do.. They have no respect for anything, not for their families, nor for each other, nor for themselves. They claw at one another as a way of life. They play polo with dead calves and force their five-year-old sons into human cockfights to defend the family honor. Huns, roaming packs of savage, heartless beasts who feed on each other's barbarism. Cavemen with AK-47's. The Taliban are cunning, like jackals and hyenas and wolverines. They are sneaky and ruthless, and when confronted, cowardly. They are hateful, malevolent parasites who create nothing and destroy everything else. They've spent their entire lives reading only one book (and not a very good one, as books go) and consider hygiene and indoor plumbing to be products of the devil. Talking to a Taliban warrior about improving his quality of life is like trying to teach an ape how to hold a pen; eventually he just gets frustrated and sticks you in the eye with it. Please, I tell you and my fellow Americans to turn off the TV sets and move on with your lives. The story line you are getting from CNN and other news agencies is utter crap and designed not to deliver truth but rather to keep you glued to the screen through the commercials. We've got this one under control The worst thing you guys can do right now is sit around analyzing what we're doing over there, because you have no idea what they are doing, and really, you don't want to know. They are your military, and They are doing what you sent them there to do. "Freedom is not free..but the U.S. Military will pay most of your share". A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.' Redacted, and rewritten by a retired US Military Veteran SCREW SNOPES !!!
Fake or not, it does contain the elements of truth - all good stories and legends do. And I have caught Snopes in errors and blunders before - they are far from infallible. They (or she) even admit here they have NO idea as to the veracity of this story. Does make me appreciate our wee Florida sand scorpions though - no worse than a bee sting...... [rofllmao]
In most cases they stir something inside me. Something if I think should be stirred in others, I consider posting them. I vet some and reject or pass them on. Other times I am too busy to vet them and usually add a disclaimer and go ahead an post them. Propaganda has a place to stir the pots of the population as a whole. It has gone on forever. The other side does it all the time as well. It disappoints me when I find one to be untrue that I posted, but I make little in the way of apology for it, because my intent was good. The thing is, you are right. I have been posting alot of them lately. I think that is because I am being flooded with so many of them these days. Makes me think there is an uptick in political awareness and unrest out there. One can hope! It's about time!
Anecdotal tales have a good and useful place in our minds. Maybe I should rewrite every one I decide to post whether true or not. Add bugs, and snakes, and skorpions and other animals to the story. Call them "Tom's Fables"
hey, sounds good Tac. I love a good story. I used to attend ren fairs just to sit under the story tree and listen until my heart's content. Ah, those were the days. I guess with bad times approaching -who am I kidding, with worse and worse times approaching, your emails will come in at an alarming pace. There is so much disinfo out there already, it doesn't really matter anymore. The damage has been done.
