@Motomom34 @Seepalaces "Moto is dead right, any private business has a right to refuse service for any reason. "

But, that simply is not true. We might think it is and think it should be but, in reality, it is not. I bring up those Bakers (think it was in Portland) that refused to make a cake for a gay couple due to religious reasons and were sued to the point of ruin. And, this has happened numerous times in numerous ways, in numerous places here in the USA. Now, IIRC another baker, with the same type of case, recently had his case overturned by the US Supreme Court; however, he is still out a ton of money, hundreds of thousands in legal fees and court costs.

I really don't care for Alex Jones and think his wild accusations, rantings and ravings do more harm than good. I frankly don't listen to anything he says because I think he is a nutcase who is just trying to make a buck by playing to those that enjoy his brand of nonsense.

I cannot consistently defend the right of a baker to refuse to bake a cake while suggesting these guys have no right to de-platform whomever they like. Yes, if it weren't for double standards, Democrats would have no standards at all For me, the third avenue of alternate formats is a great blessing.

And in the background, twitter and facebook are rejecting and removing stuff that THEY determine to be detrimental to good order on their platforms. I guess I don't see a lot of difference; someone is making the call to serve or not serve a segment of the world's population in one or another manner that seems dependent on the server's opinion.
And again, sez me and maybe me only, if you want "your" word to get out, and no one wants to host your word, host it yourself. Gofundme might be an excellent way to find out how much interest there is in "your" words.

This is not a free speech, 1A issue.

This is a BIG Mouth getting shown up for the Overblown Hot Air Windbag that he is... There is NO RIGHT for a Congressional Hearing…

I don't think anyone would object if he started his own platform if he can't find another willing to host his shows.

The tech companies who have deplatformed Alex Jones are under no obligation to provide Jones with a with a megaphone to spew his particular brand of tripe...it's not as if they are being forced to bake a cake for his same sex wedding

    BESIDES we still have chelloveck

IMHO he is just as good as ALEX,

    maybe better

Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) was a prominent Protestant pastor who emerged as an outspoken public foe of Adolf Hitler and spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps.

Niemöller is perhaps best remembered for the quotation:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Sexual orientation is a protected class. They cannot be discriminated again. Mr Jones accepted the terms of service on Youtube.

My problem isn't that one platform banned his content, but that many did so at one time. There seems to be a herd mentality in this country when a witch hunt starts.

The herd isn't always wrong about where to find a water hole. Maybe, just maybe, the majority has come to being in agreement about the suitability of the content they want to allow on their property.

They already have been going there against Christain bakers and gay wedding cakes. I have no problem with gay marriage. I do have a problem with privately owned businesses being forced to participate in it aginast the owners’ religious beliefs. This is a slippery slope we have been going down for years. I have NO idea what the right answer is either.

Should we even have “protected classes”? Can’t we all treat others like we’d like to be treated? We should not put any arbritrary group of people over any other arbitrary group of people. Our success or failure as people should depend on our competence and work ethic more than some random variables that are products of our birth. None of us chose the situation we were born into. All we can do is make the most of what we have and try and have a good life. Also, I think Alex Jones is a bit wacked in the head.

I run a Google Group focused on local businesses in our town. I inherited it from the guy who originally started it.

I know some homosexuals in town who have their own businesses, and we do business with them. As long as they don't try to sell me on their lifestyle, have at it. Anyway, not too long ago, a local business opened up as being "gay friendly". I sent the guy an email off list, asking him why he needed to specifically state his business was "gay friendly".

We are all people, all human. What does our sexual orientation have to do with where we go to shoot pool, where we have some drinks, or where we go to listen to music? If I opened a business, I wouldn't advertise it as being "straight friendly". He conceded that it really wasn't necessary, after I explained myself to him. But, that kind of stuff gets on my last nerve. If we would do away with garbage like that, we would all be better off.

And, don't even get me started on hyphenated Americans. People are too scared to use the word "black" in today's world, fearing it is offensive. Well, sad to say, you aren't an African-American. I imagine 99.9% of black Americans have never been on the Continent of Africa. So, tough sh*t. If people can't get over me calling a white guy, a white guy, or a black guy, a black guy, that is their problem, not mine. We are all Americans. I refuse to hyphenate any US Citizen.

Political Correctness needs to get buried.

    Sign me,
    A European-American :D

I some ways, I wish that were true, but there's so much tripe on YouTube, it's pretty fair to conclude this was a biased effort to shut down a very popular competitor to corporate media. Me thinks it's more about money and "who" may have interests in keeping the competition out of their market. With the recent Trump election, AJ had become more popular than ever before, and with the isolation of CNN and other major news outlets being labeled "fake news", it's not too difficult to draw the lines and connect the dots.

A windbag Jones certainly is, nevertheless he also enlists a long line of others to be in the spotlight on his news broadcasts, too.

The Oregon bakers were actually treated worse than the Denver bakers were. There was an effort by the State that went beyond justice in that they have done everything possible to not only put them out of business but destroy their personal lives as an example to others. On the heels of the Denver decision the Oregon Supreme Court declared that they would not hear the appeal request filed by Sweetcakes by Melissa.

As for Alex Jones, he definitely is a shock jock that spins to the tinfoil hat crowd, but at times reports things a week or more before it hits the mainstream media.

The elderly are a protected class also. That I can see. Everyone gets old and it is good that they are protected from abuses, especially when they can no longer care for themselves.
You are correct that we should all treat each other kindly and as we want to be treated but that is not how people are. The world would be a better place if we did but some people are just plain evil.

At this point the Oregon Bakers would have to go to the Federal District Court where they reside, and get file for relief sitting the Colorado Decision, as precident and then when the District Court Rules against them, Appeal to the 9th Circuit Court, and IF, they lose there, Appeal to SCOTUS and see if they would settle the Case as a split between the 6th Circuit and the 9th Circuit on the Cases.... Usually in these cases the 9th"s Position LOSES...

It wasn't so much the response by individuals to what Jones has to offer consumers, as the collective response to Alex Jones's Info Wars sh!t pie. Facebook et al have made commercial decisions not to continue making their businesses available to an organisation that may harm its profitability, and may lay them open to unacceptable liability risks. That is their prerogative, provided that they are not in breach of the law themselves in doing so.

If Jones had breached the conditions of service of the platforms in question, there is no question that the platform owners can exercise their own commercial prerogatives to discontinue their service to him. Unless Jones can demonstrate that he was denied service as a consequence of breach of contract, or simply because he's a 'cracker' (14th Amendment / unequal treatment) , then he may not have much legal standing to appeal these decisions. Demanding that his case be the basis of a Congressional inquiry, merely shows how unhinged the man is.

    My quip,
was intended to highlight the moral hypocrisy of those who would defend a business's right to refuse service for any, or no reason, to a same sex couple wanting him/her to bake the couple a wedding cake, yet get their knickers in a twist when platform owners decline to continue an alt right nitwit conspiracy theorist's use of their services.

Survivalmonkey has exercised its right to deny de-platform various individuals who had become members, (however temporarily they may have been), at various times ...would anyone seriously criticize the management for exercising that option? GunKid would be most appreciative. ;) If anyone here breaches the CoC, then they run the risk of being expelled...and so it seems to have been the case with Alex Jones with Facebook, Apple, Spotify etc. Apparently Jones has been alleged to have breached Twitter's terms and conditions of service multiple times, and yet he still has access to that platform....for the moment. Twitter seems to have more patience with the toxic tw@t than some other platform service providers. *shrugs*.
