The first engines i worked on in the Air Force was the T56-7 and T56-15 engines that were on the C-130E and C-130H models. I've had quite a few instances while working on them were they took a beating and kept on chugging along they were very stout engines and could take alot of abuse. I also enjoyed the fact that they were mostly hydro-mechanical in nature and have very few electronic systems on board the engine when compared to the Rolls-Royce engines that are now on the C-130J models. I have found that I would much rather work on older model engines than the newer ones since there isnt much electronics that you have to mess with same as with the carbureted engines that can be found in older cars and trucks.
