In the last few years I've gotten to the point that my reaction to many crime stories has been basically "good for you you stupid liberal F*&% !!" you got what you deserved .

I have just seen so many stories with morons crying on the TV over being victimized or their relatives and run into so many people over the years who want to lecture me about the dangers of guns that quite frankly I just don't care anymore .

This evening while on the computer with the wife watching television in the room on comes a story of a local women who was a retired Editor of our local newspaper who was raped and murdered .

She lived in a upscale neighborhood that is represented by Democrats at the local , State and Federal levels which pretty much tells you the attitude of her and her neighbors especially since she was an employee of a left wing newspaper that has seen every gun law as a "Reasonable" restriction on the 2A .

Now I may be assuming here but I feel they are pretty safe assumptions , she lived alone according to news reports , no mention of kids or husband and only "family" are mentioned as notified of her death and none seem to have been interviewed .

She was probably your typical career women and as liberal as it gets , she lived alone in a Condo and apparently didn't even bother with a dog or an alarm for protection .

Funny part is the POS they have in custody and has confessed has a black eye and Police are speculating that she fought back and gave it to him , I have to wonder as she screamed her last scream and breathed her last breath if she had second thoughts on just how stupid her employers positions "and likely hers" on how a women shouldn't have a gun because they would only have it taken away from them and used on them .

I wonder if she felt grateful that she was being raped and stabbed to death rather than taking the chance of being shot by her own gun .

Personally I find it gleefully ironic that the same stupid people who are so full of compassion for the criminal scum that commit these crimes are also usually their victims .

Oddly I almost feel appreciative of the fact that another left wing fool has been killed by an animal who has spent his life victimizing them and will now finally spend the vast majority of his life in jail if not finally executed for his crimes .

    Yup. That's cold.

You will never be able to convince these people to change their minds. Very few liberals have the ability to argue logically. Emotion gets the best of them.

Yep...cold, but the way it is. Stupid is supposed to hurt, and the more of them removed from the gene pool, the better, IMHO.

I'm waiting on the day I can ride by one of them's house and see a sign that says "GUN FREE HOME ! "

when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

Yet these are the same people that devote their lives sticking up for the little guy. (american civil liberties union, southern poverty law center and others) Sticking up for those that otherwise would have zero chance against the banks of corporate and government lawyers. They might be anti-gun, but that is just one aspect of "them" they help in so many other areas. They deserve respect, when push comes to shove they stick up for what they believe in.

I have seen a few libs that were victimized, then converted. Like people buying safes after they were robbed. I remember a while back when looking at safes the salesman asked "I take it you were robbed recently?" I told him no, I had several safes and was looking for another. He thought that odd, and said that most of his sales were from people who were robbed.

Are you being cold hearted...... yes.

    Are you off base...... no.

I'm certainly sorry to see this happen to anybody, but unfortunately, these kinds of stories are the only thing that will wake people up. I'll bet several of her neighbors are new gun owners.

The problem with that idiea to me is the fact that their 'stand' only works if backed by hypcrocy. If they go up against as an example a neo-nazi group that is terorizeing minoritis, the folks they oppose are armed and are not changeing or stoping because the libs sang koom ba yah, the only way they are going to make their changes happen is if they get folks who ARE armed (LEOs, military, etc) to go in and use the guns they dont want to exist to bring about the changes they want.

Now thats just the most obvious problem based on the given statment but then there is also the problems like that most of their lofty plans involve things like takeing money from those who earn it and giving it to those who wont and create a mindset of entitlement that leads to more crime and that they take choices away from the people (unless its the right to choose an abortion).

Is the outlook cold hearted, sure, but its also selective reprocriation. Now hopefuly the turd floating in the gene pool that did it will also get cleaned out.

Will have to disagree with you there. Lasting change occours when the mindset of people change. Using a gun only furthers more conflict. Examples.... Britain and India, Britain and US, France and Vietnam, Vietnam and US. The middle east for the past few thousand years.

Peaceful means are usually more succesful to engender lasting change, a shift in people's mindset. Forcing people only goes so far, leading people lasts much longer.

Sure guns have their place and effective for short term goals. Long term social change is better accomplished and maybe only possible through the pen and peaceful means.

Using guns never last long term. Who still feels the effects of Custer, Britain ? Yet things of the pen of the mind Socrates, Plato our whole western culture is based on their ideas. Theodore Roosevelt, "speak softly but carry a big stick" that is an idea we still live by. The thugs with guns of those days ? We don't even remember them anymore.

Guns are a tool but a very short term tool. It is not hypocracy at all to understand that the pen is mightier than the sword. Guns are just one tool that by itself you will never accomplish anything significant.

Remember Ghandi ? All he did was stop eating and he changed the course of a whole continent.

Now don't get me wrong. I fully understand that it is damn hard to stop a mugging or bring an elk down with words. Guns have their place. Just don't think you need guns to make real change. Just the opposite only without guns can you engender real change.

hard to argue with "so-crates", but if Hitler was shot andkilled by a single gun owner in 1937 think what changes would have occurred, or if "Oswald" missed....Obviously its not the gun but the intended victim..Non violence depends on a certain decency in the oppressor, the brits realized no matter how bad the beat or killed ghandis followersthey were going to get up and comeback; However a hunger strike would have not even raised an eyebrow of an SS Officer in auswitz.

Hitler was killed. But notice his idea however twisted it is still lives on in others. It isn't about the gun it's the idea. Lincon was killed but that didn't change the civil rights movement.

Maybe you should tone down the language and include some of that into a letter to the editor. Use some false compassion for her to mask your hatred and present your ideas to them as appealing as possible.

Basically I am asking you to be political.

Take a good hard look at the USSR, without people like her we would be the same. A people and economy crushed by the military and government.

We need people like her as much as people like her need us. Our constitution is formed the same way. Separate but EQUAL bodies keeping each other in check. Each one having a separate but neccesary functions and qualities. So easy to loose sight of that sometimes.

Even Rosevelt remembered you needed to carry the big stick in order for the soft speaking to be implemented. Lincon used guns to implement his ideas in the War of Norther Agression. In the civil rights movement of the 60s it wasnt just pens and ideas that those National Guardsmen carried to escort the black kids into the all white schools and the civil rights worker who went there to register the blacks to vote and only had pens and ideas often were not able to finish their jobs before they became part of someones ne damn or foundation or simply got found hanging from a tree.

Most of the liberals want to get rid of the guns in the hands of anyone but the military and LEOs and THAT, especialy combined with liberal politics, is the quickest way to wind up just like the USSR was. Gov has total controle and no concern in the least about what the people want and all thing belong to the gov so they can redistribute it to the populace like a runaway welfare system.

The hypocracy comes in because if they dont have someone there with at least the threat of force to make people start down the road then their ideas dont get implemented but they want to get rid of guns, then the fact that they want us to play globocop and make all the 'bad guy' dictators not be mean or mistreat their people but then are the first to protest if we go in and stop them.

What I was getting at is big001's assertion that somehow the woman deserved to get killed or at the very least threw away her ideals at the last moment. As if it is wrong to have the ideals that she has.

Her way of not using a gun to achieve change is a far more effective method than using a gun.

Guns are tools no more no less and certainly not the be all or end all. As far as change is concerend guns are the least effective compared to the simple idea.

Just because the woman has a different idea than ours (no guns) does not mean she was any more (or less) deserving to die a violent death than we do. It does not make her any less of a person and maybe the exact opposite.

Lets face one of the truths about guns. To many they are a security blanket. Never leave home without one is the motto of some. Is it a more or less couragous thing to go out in the world without your security blanket ? Why think of someone as less for going out in the world without one ?

My point is that as the guns relate to change they are generaly A nessicary tool, not THE tool but if you are going to change things folks dont want to change and they have guns but you dont then it isnt gonna change, kind of like China with the students who wanted change and got to toss rocks at tanks.

As they relate to 'deserving' to be a victim, let me first say that I dont figure anyone 'deserves' for that to happen to them. That said it is simple Darwinism. To go out into the world unarmed (particularly when its by choice like it now is in most states where any law abideing person can get a permit and carry) is not corageous, its stupid. You wouldnt be likely to comend someone on their courage for refuseing to wear a seatbelt or for going canoeing and refuseing to take along a floatation device. We all know that criminals are armed and that regardless of laws they will continue to be armed, also unless just liveing in a fairy tail world people know that criminals can not be relied on to just be nice and go away when asked nicely even if you comply. So to go unarmed is to volunteer to be victimized. So while not deserving it, those who want to oppose guns and hide their heads in the sand do ask to be subject to the whims of violent criminals.

As far as changeing her ideas at the end, the evidence showed whe used what weapons she had at her disposal, her body, to fight him off. So at least at the end she was not a passivist, she had simply chosen to prepare to fail by failing to prepare. Most of us know that we could be taken out by multiple unarmed attackers if unarmed, would not be a safe bet to win against even a single attacker armed with a contact weapon and would stand little chance against an attacker armed with a gun if we were unarmed. Thats true even for me and Im a large muscular man with a good bit of training and experience in hand to hand combat, for an average sized woman who may or may not even have hand to hand training then the chances drop way down so to not prepare for such things we all know can easily happen is quite foolish and nature dose punish stupidity even in humans.
