What's funny is he expected to encounter leftist hate and intolerance.
    Just that speaks volumes.

He expected but he did not see it. He was treated decently. He saw people selling guns that knew their merchandise. I do not know if he was smart enough to realize that you can eat dandelion and the other weeds he was taught to plant in the garden.

And what is wrong with this?
Finicum Finch loves the police forces and those who serve. She repeats that she isn’t antigovernment; she’s just anti-corrupt government. That line is the line on which the new rising radical Americanism rides.

I do not know @techsar I was hoping someone could explain many of these statements that the author of the article made. The author stated-
    – a patriotism defined by its loathing for its own government.

Yes. In the history of man the concept of a republic where the people were not ruled by a government or tyrant but instead where the people ruled the government IS a radical idea. Other cultures have been content to be subjugated by others.

I believe our Founders loathed government and intended that it be as small as possible and further that government service not be a career. Instead as we have drifted away from our roots as a representational republic into a democracy (look up what the Founders had to say about those sometime), our government has become large, bloated, and unimaginably in debit - the worst fears of the Founders have come true. The next step is Tyranny and we are closing in on that. We already have effectively royal families - Clinton, Bush, Kennedy, etc.

As a Patriot I loath the government that We The People have allowed to become. A Patriot to the Republic of our Constitution chafes under the oppression of our large all seeing and all knowing government that no longer serves the people and instead serves itself.

Nothing, except it's not the new American radical - it's the original version that the public schools no longer teach in favor of negatively dissecting.our Founders based on today's standards. I mean they didn't even put "Safe Spaces" and "Microagressions" into the Bill of Rights and Ben Franklin was a cisgendered womanizer after all...

Remember that the author of the article is culturally a Subject and has difficulty understanding Free Citizens. Subject vs Citizen is the motivation for many to survivalism/prepping, and is the civil war we are currently fighting in this Nation. This war is currently being fought the way our Founders intended through peaceful and political channels, though we do see it becoming more physical in metro areas. I'm not sure how much longer this will escalate, and it is a reason I'm abandoning the metro in favor of the rural.

The Subjects have our large bloated government on their side, as it fears we Citizens putting it on a strict diet. Our government is now (and likely has been for a century) owned by what is now termed as the "deep state" that includes not only career senior executives but the most corrupt of our elected officials - our new royal families. How long before Chelsea Clinton becomes a member of Congress? It WILL happen regardless of her being an unaccomplished dim bulb, no different than the latest Trudeau in Canada.

The Subjects also have the press on their side. It's interesting to see just how many government officials in high places are married to members of the press or have close relations like siblings, parents or offspring. This is another portion of the Deep State that goes unnoticed and you sure as hell aren't going to hear in the nightly news an expose of themselves.

The subjects also have our children on their side. Government ownership of the school system combined with a generation that was disengaged in their education has allowed our schools to drop educational standards in favor of indoctrination into the rainbow and unicorn world of socialism where everything is given to you and there will be no injustice like starting small and earning your way up the ladder. The evil capitalists who have all the money will be forced by their friendly government to give them everything they want. Who in their right minds would choose Liberty and Freedom the work it entails when they can just push the Easy Button and get it all right now?

Of course it will all fail, but for some reason people never see it until it's too far gone to back out. How long did it take Venezuelans to wake up? Now they are trapped. Trapped just like we will be should we continue on our present course.

I am a patriot who loathes his government. I want the Republic the founders fought for. In order to have it, we WILL have to fight again.

Y'all lost that when we lost the war. Lincoln and his said they were willing to do anything to preserve the Union, and they did.

Depending on how you look at the world, this could be a good thing, or not. I still believe in patriotism and I believe there are a lot more people like us out there that remain silent. I think we are well and good committed to this coarse and it's just a matter of time for an event pushes us over the cliff and plunges us into a shooting revolution! it's going to sound like war mongering to many, but I am actually looking forward to it! I wanna see the true patriots stand up and take this country back and drive out the cancer of this kingdom and reinstall a republic as was intended. The scary part is the left will have a plan for this, and will pull out all the stops to retain as much power and wealth as they can!

There is one issue that I saw brought up elsewhere...

as a result I'm wondering about certain aspects of it all...

if there is ever a time when Americans rise up and start shooting then I have a very strong suspicion..

that UN troops will be brought in... with the claim of humanitarian assistance... or some such...

and they will seek to disarm everyone... but the the side they favor... and then withdraw...

just like they did in the Congo...

and leave all the previously armed patriots they disarmed... hanging like ripe fruit... to be... hanged?

you can do a look up of the incident... the history is there... and then there was the Bosnia thing...

they were supposed to be peacekeepers but they pulled out AGAIN...

and left a bunch of men that had gathered to them in hopes of protection...

to the not so tender mercies of their enemies...

thinkin we the people might be better served first tryin what the Ukraine did... is a video of it on Netflix...

they came out and PEACEFULLY tried to change things...

the Gov overreacted and people were hurt and later some were killed...

point is there were a LOT of people that came out!

and they finally said... after the shootin and so many protesters dead or hurt...

OK we tried peaceful with you... so... you can do things right...

and do them by such and such a time...

OR we will try harder but this time we will be armed!

they got what they were after... sort of... although last I heard they were still having to deal with Russia...

who stepped in right after this all happened...

A multicam would be a tad more figure flattering, but woodland is still better than a tiger stripe for hiding any body flaws, and its easier to accessorize...

Well, even after what The Tyrant Lincoln perpetrated upon the South, in the end, we won. Our states are more Constitutional, our big cities less broken, our economies generally better. So, "The South has risen again!", to mangle that old saw.
Down here in my AO, if you don't wear camo, you stick out. I have found Multicam and Army Digital actually works best in the woods, but we still like our old Woodland. Tends to stick out in a pine forest though.
