Hope you are right. But I'm betting on a financial crisis way before then.

I have been shooting my muzzleloaders almost exclusively. Except for a 7X57 Mauser I picked up a few months ago. I ran 10 rounds through it to see how she did. Now, back to black powder. I do still pick up some centerfire ammo if I find a good deal.

Gun shows are gouge shows these days.
I'll start going when they start being reasonable.

At the local Rural King, where I work, we have lots of ammo in a number of calibers, just no hunting ammo. I guess everyone around here has all the ammo they need. We have Wolf buckshot, and lots of pistol and rifle ammo (mostly FMJ).

Yeah I can get hunting bullets, but I can't find the specific 6.5mm bullet my rifle likes, the ones that stacks holes on top of each other at 200yd. I saw my best 6.5mm bullet sell at gouge prices for 83 cents a bullet and again for well over 60 cents a bullet, Sierra sells themfor around 22 cents a bullet. I can wait a year and get 3 or 4 times as many for that money. I got about 30 of them and plenty of my 2nd best bullet that shoots sub 1 inch groups at 200 yards. The sub 1 inch @ 200 bullet goes for around 50 to 60 cents each if I can find them, normally they're about 40 cents each.
For 30-30 a year ago I was looking at paying up 60 to 80 cents per hornady ftx bullet if I could find them. Now they're on sale at midway for 34 cents each. Luckily I didn't pay more than about 44 cents each for what I have. I'll stack several hundred next midway order and I'll sell some next time when I can double or triple my money.

Which 6.5 bullet is that, OP? You'd be surprised what Crafty has on his shelf that might be looking for a new home.

My gun doesn't like any 120 or 123gr lead bullet. I tried loaded them over all kinds of different powder charges with W748, W760 and N555.
I am going to give 122gr lead free a chance, I bought a box of Lehigh hollow points, they're as long as 140gr lead bullets. I loaded up about 30 with W760 and N555 and see what they do. They're expensive but they stay in stock.
Also bought a box of 140gr SST bullets and loaded them up to try.
I need 130gr Sierra gamechanger bullets those consistently stack holes on top of each other every time I go shooting.
The other good one is hornady eld-x 143gr, they are a little hard to find.
I think I lucked out I got a gun that shoots a cheap hunting bullet really well.

Last week Academy had some ridiculously over priced .22 LR that I did not buy. Crap M193 ball was 12.00+ so I bought some Hornady 77 gr for 3.00 more and called it good. I will check again tomorrow as ChinaMart gets ammo in on Tues night and I sometimes get decent prices.

Prices are stupid and for some cartridges you need to be patient. I didn't buy my last two rifles until I had ammo in hand, but boy was it dear! I'll patiently wait for bullets, powder, and primers to become more available and prices to normalize before I make any more purchases.

Looking a little better around here. Academy seems to always have 223/5.56 and 9mm but not much of any hunting calibers.

I'm not waiting. I have about 3,800ish 223 at some stage of being reloaded.

The local Rural King got in a pallet of ammo last week, usually we get lots of .22 LR, 9mm, .223/5.56, .308/7.62x51, 7.62x39, 7.62x54R, and Buckshot, but this time we also got .38 Special, .25 Auto, .32 Auto, .380 Auto, .357 Mag., hunting rounds in .30-06 and .308 (right after deer season ends) and lots of Birdshot! .45 Auto and .40 S&W are usually on the shelves, too! Hopefully the ammo makers can get caught up this summer.

20 round boxes of Federal white box 5.56 $13.95 today and plenty on the shelf. Things are looking up but, prices still suck.

Over the weekend BigBox store had a lot of off brand stuff but there was:
    308, 223, 38 special, 40, 45, 9mm, 22, 7.62x39 and 380 on the shelf.
But prices seemed to be a several bucks higher per box. Lower than pandemic prices but not near pre-pandemic and this stuff isn't winchester remington cci brand.
