....we have an alpine ski region as well. The areas backing onto where I grew up make 1200m, they are in mid NSW, some small amounts of snow each year as well.

Nightforce optic on a Desert Tech DTA, this day was .308W but we also use it in 338 Lapua.

 

I'd like an AR platform. I know a few blokes with them here in Aus, they are still legally available if you jump through a few hoops.

Just checking in after a long absence. I've made gradual progress over the last couple of years with regard to my prepping. Been totally debt free for a while now, added a bunkhouse, more water storage, workshop, flushing toilet and solar power to my mountain retreat, and continued clearing, built a cabin, added 18,000l of water storage and grid power to my coastal retreat.

In the last 12 months I've had major wildfire approach both retreats, been flooded in at the mountain retreat, had my progress retarded by covid, and had a major heart attack. Pleased to report none of these has bothered me, apart from the wildfire (bushfire here in Aus, which came really close and killed several people not far from me - I've previously had fire come within 6 inches of my cabin).

Happy to see and read of your property updates. Also, your resolve to "continue the mission" through all the rough going during the meantime is inspiring.

 

It’s been a few years since I last visited this forum, but still prepping. One of my preps has always been to store a lot of paid leave and that came in handy last year, when I wasn’t able to work for almost 6 months with carpal tunnel syndrome. Basically my right hand stopped working, very suddenly and very completely. It was completely useless. I needed help to dress, shower and feed myself. My banked paid leave mean’t I still on full pay the whole time (I’m a professional motorcycle rider). It’s all good now, even hitting the weights more than I ever have since I was young.

My retreat is progressing. I now have a second cabin, about 75 square metres, that can accomodate another 4 people. A second solar setup for this cabin, all wired up, insulated and lined with drywall.
