I'm a long time "survivalist" (since the late 70's/early 80's), but new to the whole "prepping" thing. I kind of got out of it for a while just before "Reno's Raiders" started cracking down on the survivalist/para military groups. The survival mentality never completely left me though, I just wasn't as hard core. Now, I feel that things are deteriorating more rapidly, and I need to start doing something to be ready. I do have a lot of DIY skills, EMT training, auto/motorcycle mechanics (older cars & bikes), electronics repair, welding and metal work, and a basic knowledge of all phases of home construction (my father and step father were both contractors, and I grew up working with them). Currently, I'm studying gunsmithing and blacksmithing to add to my post SHTF skills. I worked my way through school as a hand-to-hand combat instructor and field medic for a merc. outfit, and received doctorates in Religion and Psychology, and I am an ordained Christian minister. I'm in Tyler, not too far from the East Texas Islamic Center, and I'd really like to find a place a bit farther away, preferably with a few acres to make a permanent homestead. Anyway, I just thought I'd introduce myself.
Hang around. When you get the chance, look in on shoutbox and talk a little. Sometimes things get pretty funny over there. Amazing the numbers of new members joining up. Could this be foretelling?
Welcome and CHEERS to TEXAS GOV. for leading the charge to take back control from a Tyrannical Fed. Gov. If I wasn't so entrenched where I am, I would consider moving there! Ya'll keep fighting the good fight!!
You would sure be welcomed with open arms. Thanks for the kind words of our Governor! That pic is funny.
Hello @Dirt Road Cowboy nice to have you here. You certainly have many much needed skills and trades that will come in handy if collapse happens. Very impressive resume of knowledge. I look forward to reading your posts.
Welcome! Being fairly new to the site as well, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Good people, and a good place for the exchange of ideas and experiences. Edit: Another Texan here, too.
