I found some nicely packed SA ammo at the local gun show today -- 420 rnds for $90. Got 3 packs of 140 rounds each from a private seller. [Below is a picture of one of the packs.] The packaging is interesting -- there are 7 boxes of 20 inside a plastic/rubberized container that is sealed and has a carrying handle from the rubberized substrait. Since I haven't opened any (not wanting to break the seal), thought I'd ask if anyone has info...
It's good ammo and getting hard to find. Its in 140 round battle packs and I saw some today at the Gun Show in Biloxi for $59.00 per battle pack and he wouldn't come down any per case. It keeps for quite a while in those battle-packs. I would buy all he had at that price. I would go back and buy all he has left at that price.
Wow! Looks like I got lucky! The guy sold me all he had (3 packs), but I'll go back tomorrow and beg him for any he has at home I spent some time in Biloxi back in '95 installing software at a casino. Hope the area is recovering from the hurricane(s) -- that's one place I'd love to visit again (Biloxi, not the casinos :^) Thanks again, SeaCowboy!
Kiesler's Wholesale (1-888-543-7537) has them listed in an ad in "SN" for $32.00 for 140 rd. battlepacks.
I'll keep that number for Keisler's on hand for the battle packs -- the guy I bought them from said they're pretty good, and they seem to be a good price. I'll try first in Reno to save shipping. Seacowboy -- there can't be much visibility in that soupy water?... I heard the fish love that kind of habitat, so it's supposed to be great sport fishing. Back in '95 there was a local fish that was all the rage "blackened" -- I can't remember what it was. My favorite eats was a Korean restaurant on Iberville near Pass road, followed by a very old po'boy shop back on 1st or Howard Ave... Oh, the bread pudding!
Talked to a dealer today who said no one is getting any .308 (he had a good laugh at my "7.62 NATO" question -- I thought I was getting hip :^) He said someone was selling "battlepacks" for $50, which is pretty much what Seacowboy got some for. Evidently, everything is going to Afganistan and Iraq. Sounds logical...
