AR15 QCB System for MGI *** PICS ADDED

Mike Sadlak has been the key member of the redesign team for the MGI QCB system and MGI accepted delivery of the first run last Wednesday night/Thursday morning. Mack Gwinn III and his mom, Christine, drove down from Maine Wed night for the pick up so Mike and I didn't get out of the shop until around 3am Thursday.

Mack is at Knob Creek with one of the QCB's - so I hope melbo and Seacowboys will hunt him down and check out the results of Mike's hard work.

Mike made significant changes from the original QCB and we're ramping up for monthly production with deliveries scheduled for 200 to 400 per month - possibly more as sales and production capabilities evolve.

E.L. Uppers are from CMT who have the FFL. We're design & manufacture for MGI at the present time. We're hoping that the Sadlak reputation for quality design and manufacture will enhance the marketability of the QCB. I'm hoping the word will spread.

For pricing, you can visit the MGI website at http://www.mgimilitary.com

The QCB - Quick Change Barrel

The Quick Change Barrel system has revolutionized the AR-15 / M16 / M4 Weapon System. This new upper receiver is completely compatible with your M16 (small front pin) lower receiver and allows the user to change barrels in just seconds.

MGI has conceptualized the modular weapon system with the QCB and AR15/AK47 interchangeable magwell which Mike also designed.

SWEET! I've been following the QCB (on Uzitalk) since it was first released. I didn't know you guys are the ones making them. That upper solves a lot of problems commonly associated with owning several calibers and wanting to shoot them in one lower reciever. All you need to change calibers is a different barrel assembly (barrel, gas tube, and gas block/front sight base), bolt for that specific caliber (if needed, .223 rem, 5.56 Nato, .300 whisper all take the same bolt but you want to use one bolt-one barrel or they will not wear in properly to each other and give you lousy performance), and a magazine that works for that caliber. I have an upper in 7.62x39, but hardly ever shoot it because I can't find magazines that reliably feed more than 7 rounds.

Anyway, just release barrel, change bolt carrier assembly, replace with different carrier and bolt, add new barrel... And you are good to go. Even less if you are changing out barrels of the same caliber because you just burned your last barrel up with a Chinese 120rd drum when you were buzzed on Jager-bombs last New Year's Eve. I love that setup, because I have four different calibers that I shoot out of AR-15's on a semi-regular basis. I don't know why I haven't aquired one yet, the biggest reason I can think of is that they are on permanent backorder status in Brownells.

Edit to add: What would be the icing on the cake? A CQB upper made for an AR-10 rifle! Barrels are much more expensive for it, and getting everything together to make a complete upper for a DPMS LAR is cost prohibitive. But a CQB upper reciever means you only have to pay for the reciever once, and change barrels, bolts, and calbers at will. Kind of a neat idea with all of the larger calibers available for the AR-10 derivitive rifle.
