Exactly what the Left doesn't want... More responsible citizens with guns and, the ability to use them.
I always said that after 9/11 CCW holders should be required to carry on public transportation, especially aircraft. The problem we have in America is the press and their sensationalizing when a nut case goes postal. It's why the nutcase does it.
Not particularly concerned with a "former" Interpol Sec. General has to say as it does not and will not effect me in the least.
Gun violence is only up in US areas where only criminals and police are allowed to have guns. I believe so - the number of people with CPL, especially women, has increased dramatically. States that make it easy for citizens to exercise their right to be armed have shown a decrease in gun violence. Guns themselves do not create violence any more than shovels by themselves dig holes.
I always said that Americans should be allowed to carry anywhere, no goofy government permission required. Condoning this notion of permits is why the nutcase politicians get away with requiring them.
When actions have consequences, people behave better. The code duello started in Ireland spread to England long before it came to the United States. The rules of gentlemanly conduct governed actions. It proved for a long time, an armed Society is a very polite one. The American Experience | The Duel | The Code Duello: Rules of Dueling
The Ferguson effect has caused the murder rate to sky rocket in some cities where violent crime had been dropping. Other than that, violent crime is still much lower than in past decades. Of course there are some who even deny there is a Ferguson effect. We have twice as many guns and gun owners as we did in the 50s. Yet violent crime has been dropping for decades. Also, we have much more lax laws dealing with the carrying of handguns. On top of that, most gun owners in the 50s owned bolt-actions and lever-action rifles, single-shot or double-barreled shotguns, and revolvers for handguns. Today tens of millions own AR and AK rifles, pump and semi auto shotguns, and fifteen-round pistols. The average gun owner is now much better equipped to commit violent crime, yet violent crime is down. Maybe the man who wrote more guns equals less crime wasn't too far off. It's not what's in a man's hands that makes him commit murder; it's what's in his heart.
