Coca-Cola is a very useful liquid, although entirely unsuitable for human consumption. Considering that it's mostly a concoction of sugar water, caffeine, and phosphoric acid, here's what happens when you drink it: What Happens to Your Body Within an Hour of Drinking a Coke But, even so, the stuff does have its uses: It's great for degreasing engines--just spray & rinse. It can also clean your toilet bowls and take the rust off your chrome bumpers. But none of those are really prime reasons to bunker it up with all your other post-apocalyptic survival stores. But here's one that is: It's also great for treating lice. And fleas. Considering that the Great Unwashed Masses will be even more unwashed after TEOTWAWKI, all kinds of lice will prosper, and fleas will bless their good fortune. For head lice, just soak the hair thoroughly with Coke, allow it to dry completely, then rinse thoroughly with plain water. Comb out any creature corpses that may remain. One word of caution however: considering how much phosphoric acid is in the stuff, you probably shouldn't use it too often. Wouldn't want your hair to fall out, what?. Might look a bit too much like radiation exposure...
@UncleMorgan "For head lice, just soak the hair thoroughly with Coke, allow it to dry completely, then rinse thoroughly with plain water. Comb out any creature corpses that may remain." Now that is an interesting use for cola! I seldom drink the stuff but I will bet that every time I do I will now be thinking of this. LOL!!! Rick
When I was in college, 4 Decades ago, I lived on Coke-a-Cola, Kaboom Cereal w/milk, and Fry-Bread.... Long Hours in the Lab, made it Mandatory to have quick Food intake....
It can do many of these functions, but not as well as products made for the purpose. Leaving a sugary residue on your battery terminals would not be a good idea. Make sure to clean it off when you're done. I know from personal experience a can of coke will dissolve a 16 penny nail in about 2 weeks. I did it as a school science project. I know it can be used to help clean chrome but it does not work as well as a chrome polish.
