Does anyone else have that back in the neck feeling about this coming winter pattern that we are going to get this year. I can not shake this feeling that we are in for some super bad weather here in the state's .They are saying that up in some part's of the mountains there is allready snow on the mountain's here in the southwest
Last weekend the forecast for sum the mountains here in NC included chances of snow. Which reminds me, I better pick up another cylinder for the gas grill, only 1 1/2 left an I hate using my camping stove to cook very much.
yeah.. leaves are still green up here in central NY. Last time we had weather like this, we got hit with some nasty snow/ice storms and trees just couldn't handle the weight of it with the leaves on the branches too. It was a mess for years...
We got snow forecasts for flagstaff and showlow last night, and it was already snowing in the higher elevations of the sierras
I know all the signs are here in Southern WV, Which I have thought it was going to be a bad one all Summer. Due to the lack of rain and high temps now the way the temps are dropping over night and you can smell winter in the air. Which I've noticed for the past few years in my area it's like we are starting to skip fall and spring just going straight into winter or ssummer. Which we have been doubling our preps over the econemy so most of our winter preps are done.
spring and summer were both bad growing season was all out of whack food prices are set to go higher stock market has been tumbling woolybears dont have a brown strip they are almost all brown had an early frost and plants just acted like its spring way too many signs of hell freezing over to ignore
Yeap, A lot of signs for those looking. I just can't prep fast enough these days. Gafarmboy If you can not protect what you own, you won't own it long.
I was out the other day looking and around for some of the signs my grand-Pa showed me growing up and found hardly anything that should be for the time of year. Then was talking to this ol guy who could be blind folded and you could take him outside he could tell you the weather for the week and be off very little if any, but anyway I ask him what he thought and he said hell he wasn't for sure either. All he did know was he thinks its going to be a bad one.
Nearly 30 face cord cut, split, stacked and ready to roll. Bring 'er on! In most of the southern US they worry about driving on snow. When they drive in the Ice and Snow you hear they scream 'Oh $hiT' In Michigan we say 'Hold my bear and watch this!'
Here in SW Oregon the highs: 2 weeks ago, low 100's 1 week ago, low 90's now, low 60's...WTF, over!!! The growing season has totally sucked and the only thing that produced anything worth talking about is the cucumbers. Canned 52 quarts of pickles.
Here in n.e. az. we are seeing the same problems. No rain all summer , during our normal monsoon season. Yesterday it rained all day and snowed in flag, about 100 miles away. Two days ago I was walking around in a tee shirt and shorts with my always present flip flops. Today, it is heaters and long johns. Our small raised bed garden did little of nothing. Get ready for the bad one I think.
We had very little summer here in western Washington with early heavy rain and wind already. Knocked over a lot of standing corn before the harvest. So we are looking at a possible heavy flood year again.
My friend's called me weds night and see if i could bring up sunday morning when i came up another 100 gallon's each of gas and diesel to farm to make sure they have enough for the winter . I have the duel tank fuel truck down here with me getting fixed at the dealership down here in Surprise and i be bringing up it back to the farm after it get fixed today along with there the extras fuels along with another supply run for the farm & cabin. They said it had drop down into the low 30's one night and they have layed in extra food's along with what they had put up from the garden this year .Also this was the first time in year's they bought a couple extra cord's of wood from a local firewood guy instead of letting the wood they cut from the local permit that they have to season up before they are ready to burn it in the wood stove that they use for heating the place They also bought four brand new 100.gallon propane tank's to add to the large home one that they allready have on the place as back up to the large home one in just in case it run's out . I can not shake this feeling that we are in for a bad one people
We (friends and I) have been talking about the geese flying south early this year ('round here anyway). Last few nights have been too cold for early October. We'll be busy little ants this weekend.
We had or first frost Oct 3 about 2-3 weeks earlier than normal. It wasn't been as hot for as long this past summer. Me thinks it's going to be a cold one. Maybe we could send Al Gore south of the equator for winter and then all the cold weather can go there and their summer won't be so hot. BWM
