Me neither Quig. But the thought of someone hacking my account got me to reply... Different tack they took and it was the first time I saw it that way... I'll check that link out Aptus.

I hit Stop before it uploaded but I felt suckered

    THat looks cool!

But you think they are now collecting info on browsing ?

    edit
    Umm... looks like it:
Google and Yahoo toolbars do the same thing and are really just spyware.

    M,

When you first looked at that email, you should've went directly to the PayPal website in a new browser window and logged into your account and then went to the profile link to see the email address associated with your account. I've gotten the laptopseller@yahoo spoof email as well, but it's always better to do like Quig said and just go directly to the website and login to verify your account status. I personally think that when they catch these phishers and spammers, they should de-nut them as "You can't fix stupid" and we don't need the ******* breeding into the gene pool.

    Oh man. That's a bummer, M! :(

    I got that one.

I forward all emails I get from a questionable "them" to Spoof@paypal.com.

Wasn't it Google who recently turned over info to the feds?

Yes Con.. I almost always do that. I was busy and saw the 'breach' and was in ahurry to get to my account... While it was loading I noticed the fake URL...

Yep Colt. I don't use any 'freebie' toolbars. They are all data miners. At first the FF extension looked cool. after reading about it. I saw that they collect everything you do while surfing.

    No offense Aptus.

When you install it, there's a checkbox to specify that you don't want anything sent. I made sure to deselect it.

Or do you think they still data mine you?

I'd bet you still send stuff surreptitiously. That's what data miners do. No need to receive anything after the first download. :(

THey keep track of all you habits.
That's how they sell 'targeted ads.

And, no one offers a service for no return

I see your logic there. Looks like I'm uninstalling it.

I've gotten pretty suspicious of most things that are free Aptus.
    It was a good suggestion

I'm surprised that FF allows a spy extension myself

Actually I have to agree with you on the free stuff. It shouldn't have slipped my mind... because basically everything I've read in regards to marketing is that if you give something away free... you only do it in order to collect info for future sales.
