Wanted to get some pics up for Sniper. The Painted one is a First Gen 99. NightForce NXS scope w/ a Ceramic 'splatter' pattern Black is a Second Gen that came with a Burris 10X40 from Barrett. They remodeled the Muzzle Brake. It's now about 3 X as big. Haven't fired this one. I love shooting the 50BMG, as I told Sniper, I also love letting others shoot them to watch that Facial expression after they feel the Shock wave slam into the back of their Sinus' I also got a shot of the 3 pin field strip as well.
Sweet!!!!!!! I love the 50 BMG too. It is an awesome experience. I have a Maadi Griffin that I built from a kit. I love it. I love to watch someone who has never shot one before. The "50 cal grin" stays with them the rest of the day.
I've never fired one of them. I have fired a M2, mounted and dismounted, several times though. There is a definite difference between the blast behind the gun, dismounted, and beside the gun as an AG.
The only .50 cals I have shot are the ones loaded from the front end. lol So are those the ones that are electronicly fired or do they have the normal primers and fireing pin? I know there is some of the new large bore sniper rifles that have a batterie that puts a charge to the round when the trigger is pulled and fires it with no fireing pin or traditional primer.
Percussion Primers with a Big Ass Firing pin... http://survivalmonkey.com/50BMG_ammo_Primer.htm might have to let it load for a bit but it has info on every 50BMG round
The only .50 I ever shot was a M2 out of the cupola of a M-60 MBT. That was better than firing the main gun! Never a stand alone rifle though. I was told that the weight and the muzzle brake make it about the same as firing a .300 Win Mag, is that about right?
Less punishing than 12 guage SG magnums IMHO Prone shooting can hurt the collar bone after awhile. Bench shooting is much better.
Most are advertised as having the kick of a 12 Ga. shotgun. Personally I think mine is less than that. I have an extra long barrel, 36", and it produces more of a strong push than a sharp recoil.I have had a couple of my buddies wives shoot it and they handled it fine, off the bench of course.
Yes Minuteman, It is a slower recoil. Very unlike other High Velocity rifle rounds. The weight has a lot to do with that. Nice pic!
Melbo, why don't you just box one of those up and ship it to me and I will shot one of the .50 cal armor plates that I have. I promise to get the rifle back before I leave for Iraq!!!!
If I could marry a gun, I would marry the one of those I shot at your house. A 3" Tungsten #2 duck load in a semiautomatic kicks more than that gun.
Well boys, I did it. Impulse buy of a Armalite AR-50. Just got back from getting it. Now my biggest problem is de-linking the rounds!!! Then I have to figure out what I am going to do for a scope!
Welcome to the club!! Before I had the right Scope, I set a Trij Reflex on it. Got a lot of odd looks at the range
