Incandescent bulbs are likely to survive an EMP or CME but LEDs are likely to burn out due to the high voltage spikes.
Old style automotive bulbs with the filament in side, are about all that is available now, but they are better than nothing.
My first off grid solar/battery system that's all we had, seeing LEDs were not available yet. The automotive pull more energy than LEDs so we had to govern our energy use closely.
Secondly, there is a diode in solar panels to prevent a draw on the battery during the night. I recommend having extra diodes to replace those burnt in such an event.
I had replaced some diodes in old panels in the past and had to bundle a few to gain the proper values.
Panels being thrown away often only have this problem, never condemn something in ignorance.
