    Yes, and was huge. Black and Yellow Garden Spider.

    When I was kid on the farm, back in Indiana, these were a very common spider. I remember them building a large web between flower stalks, and would be in the middle. Whenever anything approached them, they'd start swinging the web back and forth. We heard they were poisonous, but maybe it was just an old wives tale. Never knew for sure, but never got close enough for them to bite, either.
