You do have some good points; however, I don't think we actually 'beat the hell out of Democrats' most get slammed because they try to defend their position without facts, just lies and emotions. Example, their hatred of Trump. Furthermore, I can indeed say something good about a Democrat, one that I actually detest, President Biden. I think his lowering the prices on 10 important drugs, against all objections thrown at him by Big Pharma is a good thing...however, I wait to see how much they are lowered as it doesn't start until next year. I'm actually taking one of the drugs and this drug is 5X cheaper in Canada even without Canadian insurance. So, yeah, it is a small thing, only 10 drugs, but a good thing...if it actually comes to pass. I think that Microprocessor Chip Bill was also a good thing but need to look into it a bit more. And, we do debate here. I have had heated debates but good debates with damn near the entire forum against me about American Health Care...which given the 1st class price for 3rd class service, I still think sucks. Everything from appointments to billing to records to administration to all of it except the damn surgery itself is the worse nightmarish clusterfxck I have ever seen throughout my travels. No, I do not like the Democrat Party for too numerous reasons to list but equally, I don't like the Republican party, think the majority are idiots and when given power they never use it, probably because they don't know how. They are a bunch of damn losers (more than liking paid to lose) whining, crying and beating their chests after they are handed their a$$ but very good at forming committees. Oh! And, kicking the real problems down the road. They're very good at that. There is indeed a small handful that I think are the real deal, but the rest are so corrupt or dumb or both that it negates them. Anyway, I think I am getting off post here... I can only speak for myself and I'm not against any Democrat personally. It's only when they try to get me to agree or believe to their damn lies or fantasies then the old Josey Wale quote comes to mind, "Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining."
@Ura-Ki Oh, I'm with you 100%! I have also wonder about a 'controlled opposition' - meaning - the true propose of the Republican party is to simply act like they are doing something, taking a small win sometimes to give them creditability but always, ALWAYS losing the big ones. Example, the hiring of 87,000 new government employees for the IRS, almost doubling their staff. The 2016 election is another example. Oh! they made a big stink now 3+ years after but where in the hell were they when it was happening? We will see the same damn thing this November with the Republican wringing their hands and beating their chests. Yes, I am on the same page, Ura-Ki. I should probably change my voter's registration to 'Independent' but I'm too damn lazy and, in truth, why bother because being a registered Republican doesn't mean I will vote for the bastards. "This country is doomed if We the People don't take back our birthright and reign in our masters, bring them to heel!" Every revolution, throughout history had to have a reason(s) that basically affected the masses to the point of revolt, a harsh physical reason that could not be ignore like hunger, class system, or tyrannical government with a heavy dose of poverty in all of them. The problem was until recently, America has been so rich the elites could get away with their corruption and special privilege but inflation and, in truth, the internet has brought all these problems into the light. People use to be ignorant information wise and comfortable financially, not wealthy but comfortable. Now, those bags of groceries are only half full while they see how elitists are treated differently from the common man by our so-called Blind Justice system. Lastly, how their own government has turn against them, is rotten with corruption and the National Debt sits in full view of all predicting the end of the nation. My point here is I believe the citizens of this country are very close to revolt. It is not one thing but a multitude of reasons but until they came to light, only due to the internet, and conditions had to become harsh enough to affect the masses financially which the government's overreaching policies have definitely accomplished. I don't think it will take much more. Frankly, I think the Democrat and the Republican party both know this. In truth, maybe it would be best for the country if Harris does win, which they will because they don't have a choice and will rig the election again. So, maybe we're looking at this wrong. If Trump wins, we win as the nation and the conditions will improve. If Harris wins, we win as her policies will finally drive the nation to the point of no return and people will be forced to rise up. Strange Sunday morning thoughts but there they are...
Politics here are germane as political activity can be a trigger factor or a bell weather of conditions that can tell us what preps we need to adapt and how long before we implement those preps. I don't expect any post I make to influence someone else nor will a post I read likely change mine. It simply tells me how close to this particular cliff I am standing.
By cliff .. you mean the abyss? I think we are pretty much there. This election night ought to be written about historians in the future. It might also be the reason aliens don't want to come visit us.
There are several cliffs that can create a survival event: Politics. war, economic failure, natural disaster, man made disaster, disease, wild fire, destruction by Vargons to make way for a bypass, etc..
Living in what used to be a conservative area of the country and which has become northern Mass, one valuable function of the political section of the Monkey is to remind yourself that all of the world is not crazy left or right. It somewhat functions as the old time Letters to the Editor in the newspapers before the left destroyed them. Used to subscribe to four papers, no longer subscribe to any and don't bother to read them if available free. We for the most part know what the content of the political posts are going to cover before we read them. Certain members have certain views and we, or at least those that follow , are posters, or lurk, know and judge those posts at least at a casual glance on that basis. But on the other hand I look forward to some posters views as they supply insights winnowed out of mountains of chaff. I don't watch hours of any of the commentators and thus often miss 10 minutes of an interview with an individual that I find very insightful. I would miss those posts. The forum has a follow and an ignore function, that at least for members can act as a filter. I often agree with the comments on disagreeing with the political content, but if it is in a forum labeled, Here Their Be Dragons, one might expect to have views exposed. I have the ability to select the sub forums for what content I wish to read, humor and meme's seem to dominate my browsing, and certain members alert me to their posts. Thus the question seems to come down to personal safety and the view of the Monkey by others. I think that the powers that be can monitor and record everything and that any hiding attempts will only stop the casual recalling of posts. The real security is that the few grains of wheat are hidden in a mountain of chaff and only a targeted search will lead to critical posts. The mods have a real point in what the function of the Monkey is. Is it a club of a few old farts, does it wish to be more open, does it wish to target the hard core survivalist, does it wish to grow? Does it need to grow to get the resources to survive? A lot of questions way above my pay grade. Problem with all groups is the ability to remain enough on track to continue to exist. All know about the decision by the head Squirrel to enforce his views, and that was his right to do so, but which destroyed the very reason I checked in daily. The fiction section was world class and quite unique, the rest was average. I don't even know if the forum still exists, haven't checked in a few years.
Ran across this today Goodbye, Sweden! What Triggered The Great Indian Exodus From The Scandinavian Nation | Explained (youtube.com) And the report could replace "Sweden" with any US State or city. Good production values and better English than my own by presenter. Like a cracked mirror, I see this as our future if we can't get the FedGov off its ass and working to control our border....
Yes, the interactions between ourselves is important, and I wouldn't want to do anything to disrupt this process. This is why I only recommend moving political posts that are old and off our radar. This purpose does serve to keep the crawlers and bots from accessing the information, which is highly important because this is how searches are conducted on the big 'ol web. And speaking of this, the internet is going to become the next great battleground, like it or not. Best to stay ahead of the curve or else succumb to everything which censors. It's playing the game smart instead of becoming victims. Plus, politics in general is shit. It's nice to exchange ideas on occasion, but if it's the main reason for being here...there are better places suited.
