So - the progtards want to add a huge bunch of bananas to what once was a republic. Election by popular vote will quickly devolve into a pure democracy, recalling the old saw about two wolves and a sheep.
These morons do not understand that the Electoral College system was put in place specifically to prevent the majority from tyrannizing the minority.
Hand me one of those bananas will you - may as well enjoy our new 3rd world republic.

Since the US came into existence as a result of the Grand Compromise, 3/5 person slave representation, 3 branches of government, two houses of legislation, one based on states, one on population, etc, if you do away with the compromise, do you also break up the union as the states joined based on the compromise and the bill of rights. Any attempt to change it is a nothing but an attempted power grab, but what else is new.

This is essentially the situation in States. Big cities and high population areas control the elections, vote in the entitlements, and turn the republic into the Socialistic trending governments we see, like California.

We saw that in the first round votes for CC in Mo until the truth was finally realized by the voters who were at first bought by the Hillery Group.
The black minority single townie moms were the largest block who voted against CC in Mo until they realized their babies were being killed in the cities and the Moms could not protect their homes from invasions by the druggies.
Then the Country Folks got together with the black moms in the next vote and together they passed CC.

This was the largest awaking of Single Black Moms, they and the White Devils of the country side got together and voted to protect themselves.
YOU wont see this reported by the Media at that time but the facts are there if you care to look.

Primary reason I left upstate NY hill towns for better climes: political and climate. Left behind 85 wooded acres I couldn't build on or sell. There was a seasonal wet spot the state called a "wet land". Couldn't even log it for saw timber. But they were right there demanding their $%^& taxes.
The state still owns it 20+ years later.
We all knew we were disenfranchised by NYC and Albany. And not a damn thing we could do about it.

In the state of WA, we are mired with liberal leadership due to the amount of voters in the Seattle area, controlling the vote of the rest of the state. For the most part, WA feels like a red state across the board.....but the numbers in just one county (King) flip the rest of the state.....sad to see happen, hard to change.

Texas will leave the Union, IMO, before it consents to being governed by New York and California and no Supreme Court ruling will stop it. A lot of other states will follow suit. That's not what we signed up for.

Ah yes, pure democracy. Basically, mob rule. He who can generate the biggest mob wins.

Voting as it is doesn't work anyway, but it's comical to see the leftists scurrying along, desperately trying to vindicate their pathetic existence.

Psst, we've still got a corporate oligarchy disguised as a democracy with only the fleeting memory of it once being a republic no matter "who" sits in the Oval Office.

Agreed - this would cause the states with smaller populations to become disenfranchised and likely seek secession. Too bad we can't rip the population centers from the west coast states and let them form their own paradises.

I get the idea that how and why we have Grand Compromise hasn't been taught in at least a generation or two, and if it has it's been spun heavily. Every time I hear some ignoramus whine about how the Founders only thought that a black man was worth 3/5 of a white man you can bet that a history and civics lesson is forthcoming.

Why compromise when with a little effort, you can raise a mob and force your wants on the other side?

Definitely the case in Illinois where 4 Counties dominate the other 98. If not for those 4 Counties IL would be a deep Red State as it is we are bright blue.

Hmm...maybe this isn't such a bad thing. Why? Because things have to get worse before they get better. Nothing will ever change until something finally forces the issue. This indeed could do it. Besides, like @Brokor said, "Voting as it is doesn't work anyway..." because things have gone too far, the game is rigged with the deck stacked...completely, totally, stacked.
