[blonde on] Nice Camels [blonde off] Just kidding..... where was this? I'm thinkin that 7x7 would look good on my wall..... have to take off the ear tag though
At an elk farm. They butcher and sell the meat (they don't sell a pretend "hunt"). They're not tamed, but don't fear people there (kinda' like the ones at the refuge). The owners are hunters, too, which is obvious by their incredible respect for these great creatures (and animals in general). I thought it'd be great for the kids to see them up close (the elk refuge is quite a drive and there's no guarantee that you'll see them up close). I've never seen so many, so close, so it was big fun for me too. I think we'll go back after the antlers harden up. They have mostly Rocky Mountain, but have introduced a couple of Roosevelts (much larger) into the herd. I actually learned a lot about identifying the sick and injured by their antlers; useful info. in the field.
