I carried one of my khukuris on a trail. My kids were babies still and I was carrying one of them. We got to a point where a huge bamboo broke and fell across the trail. So I handed the kid off to the missus to chop the bamboo and move it. Did I say it was huge? 8+ inches in diameter and guessing 50' long. I could have left it, but it meant stepping over an almost crotch high obstacle going both ways. I always cleared trail hazards so I bust out the khukuri. Guess it was a good day for a hike because some folks caught up to our backlog. I was a little concerned chopping it with so many people around. But got in a safe position and hacked it where it broke and carried it off to the side of the trail. That bamboo was heavy and unwieldy. Thing is no-one helped me. They just stood around and watched and took pictures or videos on their phones. WTH? I sheathed the knife already.
