My Dad made his famed "cat head" biscuits, and slathered them in cane syrup - great stuff!! Excellent with just butter too. His frying pan cornbread with cane syrup couldn't be beat either!

I had to look these up. This recipe calls for a cake pan but a few recipes showed them baked in a cast-iron pan.

We called these Drop Biscuits at home.

You can bake in the oven for a golden top, or in the fry pan - turn once, they won't be as tall, but will cook all the way through.

I'm tucking into some nice hot Chicken & Rice today for dinner! It's chilly for the next few days. It's time for some comfort food!

Yes, with melted butter and lefse. Might not like the salt etc process for making it, but it stores almost for ever and is a good food source.

Lute fisk, flat bread, lefse, dried green beans, potatoes, dried squash, steel cut oats with different meats added, cabbage, carrots, home canned beef, pork and chicken, home made sausage, ham, bacon, etc, were all things my grand parents had in the fall to last all winter.

IMG_20200802_153407. I had to break out another can that expired in 2013. Still had a nice hiss and bread was perfect and moist.
I still eat it the way Dad did, with slabs of butter.

I like my canned bread toasted with peanut butter. No raisins tho.

    Winter breakfast
Fluffy buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravey w/grapefruit slices

I like good moist fruit cake in winter. My grandmother made it with a fruit component that she let sit in a crock marinated with rum from fall till Christmas..... omg it was so good
