Canoe Paddle Expert Needed

Pasties are one of my favourite foods. (pronounced with a short "a" or a long "a" depending on how plummy one speaks). The filling being the food, the pastry the container....traditionally the scalloped edge was used by miners for holding the food with, and was usually discarded, rather than eaten.

 

That looks to me like a crawfish pie? Perhaps one could make a bacon pie?
