Well, were you successful in separating your mold, and did you find any gems amongst the dross?

Lucked into a lead lined wood door. Most of it went to a scrapper, but I got about a third of it. (Several hundred pounds of soft lead):)
I spent about ten minutes, stripping the wood off it, by cold chisle and spudbar, then cut it up in about six pieces for easier handling with a sawsall and a wood cutting blade. This is quite a bit of lead suitable for muzzleloader bullets:).
As time allows, I will melt down and flux each chunk into ingots for muzzleloader.
Since I have several ingot molds, I think I will alter two of them to add an "S" for soft lead to the form. (That way they come out, premarked):) IMG_20150623_163305902. IMG_20150623_163801377. IMG_20150623_170248591.

[IMG] New addition for the soft lead ingots. May start cleaning and fluxing soon. Next step will be the mold. @Gator 45/70 , did you find one worth buying from you, or shall I go new?;)

Well, if it ever stops raining here, long enough, I may get that soft lead cleaned and in ingot form.
Right now, it's too wet to even try to paint the trim on my house. :(

Finally had time and a fire going so out came the scrap lead and my ingot mold. Didn't count but it's about 60 pounds or so.

First piece melted down, steel anchors removed, wood scrap used to flux, some what;) this is all soft lead, melted like water from an icicle. Oxy/acet used, with lead suppended, and skillet on three rocks. Then the whole heated, fluxed, and left to cool. IMG_20150804_171137274_HDR. IMG_20150804_175838159.

If the scale is to be believed, that skillet holds #40 of lead.:)

This lead has now been cleaned, all steel anchors and wood now gone. It will get fluxed as it is melted again into the melting pot, and cast as ingots. Total yield from roughly 1/4 of a lead lined door.......260lbs of soft lead. IMG_20150816_150941924.
