Survivalmonkey is now serving most images on the forum from another server (CDN) to speed things up while browsing the site. However, the images (and Avatars) are cached (or stored in a lock state) for a 24 hour period before they are refreshed. If you attempt to change your avatar, it may not appear to succeed but it should be showing correctly the next day. It's a small downside of having our servers configured this way.
