Just get out your Dremel and make that single stack magwell into a double stack magwell.

And...to be legal add 922r US made parts.

    :)

How much will those 922r parts set me back? That's a pretty thrifty setup.

It's not the 922 parts that will set you back, it's the 922 rounds of ammunition that will eat your pocket book.
I sold one of my AKs off just because the AK is getting to be like the M1 carbines a few years ago, carbines were cheap, it was the ammo you couldn't afford.

Wouldn't it be compliant out of the box?

Yes with a 10 round single stack mag not after it has been cut out for a 30 round mag.

Being a 10rd set up, it is a "sporting rifle" therefore no 922r parts required.

Once the mag well is opened up to accept double stack mags it becomes and "assault style weapon" requiring no more than 10 imported parts.

There are a few ways to cover this. That rifle does appear to have a US pistol grip already so that is 1 down. Install a US trigger pack that is 3 parts (costs $25-100 depending on catching them on sale, or going to the extreme of buying an adjustable). There is 4. IF it does not have a bayo lug, you can get away with 5. If the lug is intact then you need 6 so the cheap way from here is a Mag US mag. The Tapco mag is ok. Not something I would trust my life too, but a decent range mag IF the spring is good. I got one with an undersized spring and it would FTF. Replaced it and she runs like a top and gives you 3 US countable parts.

OR you could Replace the Furnature ($100) Gas piston $20ish?, Muzzle device $12-60.
