So i bin thinking of ways to cook rice that im going to store so im not just lost if it comes to it and this one was pretty good 1 lb hamburger 1 cup rice before cooked about 1/3 cup chopped onion 1can green beans 1 can cream of mushroom soup enough cheese to cover it i think it was about 2 cups cook the rice (i cooked 2 cups and used about half. i still havnt figured out hpw much it fluffs might use a cup and a half if you like alot of rice) brown the hamburger and onion togeather. once those are done mix and add drained green beans and soup and salt and pepper to taste. smooth out the mix and cover with cheese. bake at 350 till the cheese is melted. serves about 4 and if this is in the wrong place can some one move it? i wasnt sure where to put it. hope you like it
Instant is simple. Boil water one cup water to one cup rice, add rice to boiling water, remove heat and cover pan, wait five minutes, uncover, stir, and serve. All water will be absorbed. Raw rice or brown rice has more good stuff in it, but instant is very easy.
@tedrow42 I will try this and report back. I have a boy that consumes everything, the bottomless pit. He is my taste tester and is loving the recipes off the monkey. @kellory is correct, instant rice is super easy. I noticed that Minute Rice is now making Multi-grain and a wheat one.
Our variation is: 1 lb hamburger crumbled and browned 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 can cream of chicken soup 1 cup rice uncooked 1 can water chestnuts drained Mix well and place in baking dish bake covered @ 350 about 45 minutes, uncover then cover with chow mein noodles and bake 10 more minutes. The rice cooks while it bakes. My Mom started making this back in the 70's, at the time it passed as Chinese food in my culinarally deprived corner of the PNW. I now classify it along with anything made with Hamburger Helper or Spam as Suburban Soul Food.
