China Infiltrates 30 US Corporations Using Chips Implanted on Motherboards Other Devices

What if that chip exists in the control system for a self driving car? What if it's in the guidance system of a missile? What if it's in the avionic control system of a plane? We are increasingly dependent on electronics and soon AI. Chips can kill.

 

If this is real, and I have no idea if it is or isn't, but assuming it is real, this would drive our defense costs through the roof as every single board would have to be manufactured under strict security controls specifically for the military. I suppose the up side would be the boards most likely would be built in America bringing some good paying jobs .

Some here are old enough to remember the days when the military only used equipment built specifically for them to extremely high standards and while some equipment is still that way most is now procured 'off the shelf.' For example, networking equipment, procurement of routers and switches and servers and client PCs. All, strictly 'off the shelf' purchased via GSA contracts...but if those routers are full of spy chips? Bad scenario, even if it is on the unclassified networks, it's still a bad scenario because enough all-source information could be collected to really hurt long/short-term operations. BTW even the classified networks use the same 'off the shelf' equipment but the network is closed and special devices (TACLANEs) are used for encryption between LANs/WAN connections.

Yeah, this would be a game changer...

 

imagine how many of these spy chips are in cell phones and every ones got one or two .

 

So glad Its only the chinese and rusians who do this
