Looks like they won without firing a shot nor shedding any blood. It's all about the money. Lend them money to repair and then take assets/resources when they can't pay back.
But China will be smarter than Great Britain, Russia/USSR/Russia, and the USA. They will not engage in nation building...there will be NO interference in Afghan internal affairs. The CCP will not care a fig for the rights of women and girls. minorities, gays or lesbians, education, health care, etc....all China is interested in is trade and all the Taliban wants is recognition from a super power and everything that implies (money, weapons, protection from attack, and to thumb their noses at the USA). That should have been our policy! For a few million dollars a year we could have bought-off the Afghan warlords and saved a lot of American blood and trillions of dollars!

They also have been cutting mineral mining deals for at least the past year. China is resources poor so this is a huge win for them as they will come into the country and get paid for building crap (which is what I think of their construction) while getting all the minerials they need. The US surveyed and found a hell'va lot of unknown minerals throughout the country. It was a big deal about a decade ago (maybe more) when they complete it and Afghanistan has the potential to be a wealthy nation from it, if they don't sell it all away to China.
China won't have to build crap, cause WE built airports, roads, schools, bridges, and hospitals with trillions of US Dollars. TPTB over spent biggly, they built modern American hospitals and schools when cattle sheds (less the cattle) would have been sufficient. Afghanistan is a low tech country and any aid given should have been low tech...that should have extended to military aid also.

In the world climate for “News” these days, the Chinese couldn’t carry out any mass executions, or Roundups in Afghanistan, as they and their economy depend on trade… Bad PR like that WOULD KILL their international Trade… The only trade Afghanistan has is opium, and a few sheep & Goats… which wouldn’t cause anyone to not do business with them, for any PR Breach, like killing, raping, or debauching a bunch of women and girls.. The world could care less… Just like they really could care less, about all the school girls kidnapped in Kenya by Boco Haram… Just another Third or Fourth world Commie bunch looking to score some ransom cash from Bleeding Hearts…
Actually the Chinese seem to be good at doing it anyway... if you can control the narrative you can do what you want. They seem to be really good at controlling the narrative. Who are the Uyghurs and why is China being accused of genocide?
