it takes just under a yard of felt which I purchased at Walmart for $4 and a crafting wreath for $1 at the Dollar store

Made this knife from a roller bearing race, made in china . The wood is bamboo
It's not a thing of beauty, but it's functional . takes an edge and holds it well under work .
Being Chinese steel I don't expect much out of it , it is just an exercise in blacksmithing.
I was using some one else's forge and anvil and it was in very poor shape heavily abused .
.One of those things you learn the hard way.
I realize that the scales are squared off, but surprising enough it's comfortable that way.
Funny thing I learned long ago was finding things in the dark matters, if you know the handle and blade orientation immediately on touch .
Some knife handles have no specific orientation (Opnel ) requiring more discovery before working it.
It might seem petty but free diving 20' under water and zero visibility these things are critical .
Not that it is a diving knife , it's not ,
But I've gone in doing emergency recovery, undressed to my skivvies and just a knife in hand working purely by brail and memory.
Do you know your knife handles in the dark ?

My youngest made his Dad a cutting board for Christmas.

 

From the first pix of this logging truck I never thought of the size it was , seeing this now my mind flashed back to the 50's-60 of the large metal trucks some had as kids ..
