    There's something to be said for knowing the old ways. In some ways my 16' x 16' cabin across the lake from the Smokies is better suited to primitive survival than our little house in FL.

    So the weather channel has this cute little video about how tangier island in Virginia will be under water due to climate change.
    What they fail to mention is tangier island is losing landmass due to erosion.

    Can 't cut my pines for structural lumber guess I'll be cutting them for heat- have an old Reliant wood stove I got for nothing and brought it back to life. Push comes to shove set the stove in the fireplace and use those pines I will have heat

    Been using wood for heat for several years...the few days a year that heat is needed. Most of the time, opening the drapes and letting the sun warm the house is plenty.
