Communications... Old School... Notes and Letters

For my ham radio hobby i use also a paper log en don't logging digital

 

I constantly making notes, and for added security I encrypt them...I write in cursive!

 

Agree with writing in notebooks and making lists...notes...et al. Something which will not go dead if the batteries run dead as well.

Some of us used to call this a "Manual Override."

I reckon it is the Olde School in me ..but I was stunned to realize that there is a generation out here who cannot read cursive writing.

I have found numerous times in life wherein the high technology does not work for one reason or another and you need to be able to go manual override.

By the way....speaking of Manual Override.....some months back...in the local grocery store....for some reason...the computers went down...and none or these credit or debit card would work....

The only system that would work as a Manual Override was called "Cash."

Catching on yet?????? I'm a cash type of guy...and seldom use my cards except to get gas and pay that off as quickly as I can.
I am not impressed with the concept of a cashless society...."Period.."

But you members decide for yourselves....but I believe in being able to do a Manual Override so as to not become too dependent on others..... or a high tech system ...if need be..

I suspect that in many things in our high tech world....a Manual Override is becoming an anachronism......until the high tech system breaks down...

Is that not for what we often prep???? The high tech system breaking down?????

I suspect that many in the Hurricane Helene ravaged areas are learning or re learning these lessons.
