I was home for Christmas in the first time in about 3 years. I was watching Public Television- they were doing their fund raising. The played "Alone in the Wilderness" about 10 times while I was there. Dick Proenneke was a one of a kind- that's for sure. I have never seen anyone hand hewn logs so quick and effortlessly. Anyone read any of the books based on his journal or seen any of the other documentaries made about him? I was contemeplating picking some up. I think that documentary helped realign my priorities and start thinking about my own homestead.
Here are some sites I found: A place to buy the books/videos- Amazon is also a source: Alone in the Wilderness, DVD and VHS available, the story of Dick Proenneke YouTube link:
And the same to you AE! Those rings made a nice edition to my M1A. It is now sporting some leupold glass. If only it would stop raining long enough for me to get out and shoot it.
