Interesting article.I find it interesting that such a wild animal would be comfortable in urban areas. People are used to foxes and coyotes but adding wolf blood into the mix, makes the canine a much larger threat.

"At about 55 pounds, the hybrid animal is about twice as heavy as a standard coyote, and its large jaws, faster legs and muscular body allow it to take down small deer and even hunt moose in packs, and the animal is skilled at hunting in both open terrain and dense woodland."

A new species is evolving right before our eyes — an ultra-successful mix of wolves, coyotes and dogs

If you read the comments you will see that people are seeing these all over. Major cities also.

Had a lot of coydogs around my old place. Nothing like a coyote/pit bull cross to wipe out a herd of sheep. :/

Two winters ago I stumbled on Coywolves when I was checking on the ice bridge on lake Superior to Isle Royale which many had hoped would bring in new wolf blood lines because they were horribly inbred and dying off.

And then there were three. The last remaining wolves on Isle Royale, photographed this past winter, are a pair and a smaller, hunchbacked wolf (last in line) that may be their pup.
