Interesting story here. A women turns in StG44, WWII "bring back" in gun by-back program. Value is supposed to be about $40K. I wonder if the government will "destroy it" or find a reason to make a BIG profit on it? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...y-program.html
The nice cop gave her permission to take it home and sell it. That alone should be an interesting exercise --
Not what I read on another site, the cops still have it. Since the weapon was probably not registered the jackboots at ATF will most likely destroy it. Hoping they will take exception and at least let it go to a museum.
Would not hold my breath on that one. Do not have much of a nice opinion of their common sense attributes.
It will probably go to Springfield Armory museum. The Hartford police may be yahoos but they do have an appreciation for historic firearms.
It should go to the museum intact. Mike and I just did a another special viewing at the museum a couple of weeks ago. I'll try to post some of the picture a little later tonight. I've been meaning to but just didn't get around to it.
