Not you beast. Our beasts, them 2 and 4 legged critters that may or may not be owned by us but usually show up fattened up and ready to go into the freezer and our stomachs.

Another tax is all it is, more burden on family farms.
Fewer family farms around this area use to be lots...

.... and the last time they saw the USDA inspector he was checking documentation somewhere in SE Michigan. Rumor has it he went to a bar-b-que ala 'Fried Green Tomatoes'

The rise of the mega-farm agribusiness at the expense of the family farm is one of the great tragedies of the 20th century.

Better farming through chemistry and itemized control.

In the 1950s, President Eisenhower's Sec of Agriculture was touting the end of the small family farm in favor of agri-business.

I imagine the small farmers back then must have thought the government was trying to do something like you describe.

Given our situation today, that report doesn't seem so far off the mark.

lets face it, agri-biz pads our elected officials pockets
    and pads them well
which we as small farmers are incapable of doing
it has nothing to do with which method of farming is better
we all know the small family farm is better
what matters is who puts the most $ in the govts private pockets
what we really need to do is eliminate that possibility
make it illegal for any elected official to take money from anyone or anything outside of his normal paycheck. for the duration of his time in office and several years following
