All wired up and screwed up now. The wire leads actually are screwed into the heart muscle---told you I was screwed up--lol. Supposedly it only kicks in if I fibrillate or the heart stops. Mighty sore, they put the device into the upper pectoral and every time I wiggle my toes it hurts--not really. Did not know but cannot be welding or even running strong electrical tools(circular saws). Sure hate to sell the wire feed but that is just the way it is. Will keep the AC/DC "buzz box"--just in case. Have enough battery tools to get by w/o using the electricals. Anyone else have an implant? Any problems?

Sorry to hear you need one. I wouldn't mind having a wire feed again, all I have is a very small buzzbox stick. What part of the country are you in?

45 miles ESE of Charlotte, NC near Marshville. May be able to use a "shield" and still weld---checking into it.

I don't think I would get rid of any electrical tools that may cause problems. There are always others that can utilize these tools in support of your projects or use them whenever the time is needed. Call me a tool hoarder, but I can not see ever letting anything useful go....

Did you get a myocardial ablation? I wasn't aware of the EMF problems, so that's good to know. I know some others that had the heart ablation done. They are fine, but the only thing electrical they operate is a coffee pot.

I have a. Pacemaker, on my 2nd one. This one I can have a MRI with. I called the maker of it Medtronic about welding with it. They said yes but it can not be a big one on a high setting . I must have the ground away from me. I am not supposed to use a chainsaw, cdi inginitiion. I bought a electric one. I use a gas weedeater, but shouldn't and have used a gas chainsaw too but only once or twice. Power tools are not supposed to be a problem. I use a table saw more than a skill saw, I can not cut a straight line. We all did not have power tools at one time. I can use them, but still can not cut a straight line. If you were off the grid what would you use? I use a mig mostly. I have learned to gas weld for some body work I do sometimes.

I know it is not a difubulator. My uncle had one. It was a bad one and had to be replaced . He said do not touch anyone if it is shocking him. The bad one went off a couple of times. It was not fun he said. Get the information sent from the maker to you.

I go every 6 months to my heart Dr. The only thing that has showed up is when I had a fast heart beat from moving a bunch of hay bales. They read the info from the pacemaker and can change any thing they want.

It does not sound right to me.I know several people that were supposed to get combo units but only got the pacemaker. For personal reasons.

Good luck, but check around with other's who have one. You can also check on some forum's on that stuff. My pacemaker is in the same place but the wires are below my heart, no screws into it. I have seen his xray on the whole setup.

But do as they say. We do not have to worry about microwave ovens anymore.
    Be positive.

Did you have it as outpatient surgery? My 2nd one was that way. Most are done that way now. Give you some pain meds and off you go.

My neighbor is in his 80's, and up in till about a year ago (when the bank took his truck and chainsaws, and tools) he was a wood cutter./seller. he fells them, cuts, splits, stacks, loads and unloads. gas chainsaws, and all. and if i recall correctly, he has only about %30 heart function, and is on his third or fourth pacemaker. I cut their lawn when I cut mine, because they don't have two nickles to rub together (most of the time), so I will bet his pacemaker is going to be nothing high-tech and special.
Now that his tools are gone, I guess you would call that "enforced retirement." Now, he has no choice, but to live on Social Security/ect.

Appreciate all the tips, hints, and well wishes/and prayers. We have all our power tools backed up by hand tools but even those are "out of service" right now--at least by me. Cannot squeeze, push, or pull much with left arm and almost recovered from a torn rotator cuff in the right shoulder. Got "moma's" second bath back into operation but not finished. At least she can use all the stuff except the shower. Have to connect the drain and will be finished. Later friends and do appreciate everything.
