Blows me away how accurate this man was that long ago. At the same time it saddens me that the warnings have been there for so long.
It never ceases to amaze me when this topic comes up in conversation, some people do get it, but it's when I stumble upon someone who not only doesn't get it but gets angry and absolutely denies it could or would ever happen. I know the power of denial is strong, but it shocks me at times. An example is my wife's aunt- she lost her job and has been on the dole for over a year- she thinks this is acceptable even though her husband works and she flat out says she doesn't really need the money that bad. I asked since she thinks this is ok, where do you think the money is coming from? She says "they are the government, they have as much as they need". I honestly think these things are on such a massive scale that people have a hard time wrapping their mind around it, any maybe that's the goal.
That's how Rome kept things in line for a while, 'bread and circuses'. We have reality TV and sensationalism masquerading as journalism.
