Required for taxonomy and ornithology class (dam those study mount projects!). What I do like about them though, is they come in a nifty fairly tough little case, and hold a variety of handy tools that should be of great help for many projects from skinning to light butchery duty to field surgery. I'd not swear by any effectiveness for sterility, but it would be a step up from your pocket knife, and a second or 2 in a lighter should do the trick good enough til you could get to a hospital.

I can tell you that the dental picks work good for weapons cleaning.

+1, I use them all the time on the trap gun, and often enough on the others. (The Citori is pristine with over 30,000 rounds thru it.)

Where does one go to get such a kit and about how much $ will it run?

I don't know where these kits come from, but I do know that if you butter up your dentist and ask real nice, they will give you some of the pics that they can't sharpen anymore.

I would be very interested in knowing where you can pick these up and how much they cost!
