DIY fodder system

    Yeah, if you don't have drainage + some air circulation, I'd think it would mold. Mine get automatically watered for 15 min every 6 hours, and the water drains off immediately, leaving the seed moist, but not sitting in water. Biggest problem I have, and why I added 2 more trays, is my basement is often in the mid-50 range, so the sprouts take longer to grow. I find a 10 day turn around time is what I get.....hence, 10 trays.

    First time I tried growing some, I just used a couple of plastic seed flats....one slotted for drainage inside a solid one to catch the drainage, sitting up on a couple of wood blocks in the solid tray so the seed wouldn't sit in water. Set it on the kitchen counter, and it worked just fine...actually better, since the temps run in the 70's there.

    I grow duck weed for my fish and chickens.
