http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_GUNS_PUBLIC_HEALTH BS--more access?? There are all sorts of restrictions on buying firearms now. When I was a teenager (80s), you could walk in a store and buy a shotgun without filling out anything. I was shocked a few years ago when I bought a Mossberg 500 that they were doing background checks on shotguns too. Seems to me you'd get more bang-for-your-buck by looking at the other 91% of violent crimes. Given the number of guns in circulation and the number of a$$holes breathing, you'd think there would be more killin'....and there was per capita if you look back through history when there was no laws. What the good doctor fails to mention are some of the other ways that people die. For example, in 2000*, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found that DOCTORS were the 3rd leading cause of death in the U.S. 12,000 -- unnecessary surgery 7,000 -- medication errors in hospitals 20,000 -- other errors in hospitals 80,000 -- infections in hospitals 106,000 -- non-error, negative effects of drugs In my educated opinion, this is an underestimated number. I'm sure the doctor has read this landmark article, yet...dismisses it for some reason. Perhaps doctors should be better trained...have to take more precautions...be monetarily penalized for mistakes. They wouldn't stand for it. This guy is nothing more than a true-believer agenda pusher. OK...but, does that increase in ownership translate into more shootings? If so, there should've been a pandemic after the election of 2008. These guys a so full of it and the libtards just accept their agenda as fact: "guns baaaaaaaad." * - July 26, 2000;284(4):483-5
A wise man once said, "If all one has is a hammer, than all problems look like nails." Exactly the way these medical dweebs think. Every bad thing is a 'disease', to be treated for removal. Insteadof trying to find an fight the root cause of crime, they demonize the gun owners. They care not that 99.9% of all gun owners are good honest law-abiding people. People who realize the cops cannot be in place to protect them - one must protect oneself and ffamily!
I believe it was back in the early 80s the doctors in Brazil went on strike and in that period the death rate fell by somewhere in the 25% range...Meanwhile in Israel the doctors also went on strike and you guessed it the rate fell by almost 55%. The only reason I see for the difference in the DR(death rate) is the poor people in Brazil did not have as many roads and cars that allowed them to get to the doctors fast enough!
the only thing i can think of with your brazil comment is that either they really suck over there and kill a lot of people by accident or that the people knew that if they got sick or hurt then they would have no one to see
Gun violence is a disease. We need to treat it just like any other disease in a herd...vaccination. But vaccination needs to be in the form of building a resistance to the disease. The only proven method for decreasing gun violence in the USA is with better access to firearms by the law abiding citizenry. Therefore, all medical professional organizations would be correct in recommending every citizen be vaccinated from gun violence by owning and carrying a fully functional, loaded firearm.
and there is another shooting in Texas with a bunch injured and a few killed including the gunman and cop.
I saw that....posted in another thread...it's going to keep on until the sheeple beg to be disarmed. http://www.survivalmonkey.com/threa...ov-3rd-if-obama-wins.34519/page-7#post-230096
