Thought some of you might find this interesting. It appears that the Oklahoma National Guard was running drills, when somehow one of their training (dummy) bombs was loosed above Tulsa OK. where it fell into an apartment complex. http://www.newson6.com/Global/story.asp?s=8015580
You know, since I first heard about this I have not been able to get the thought out of my head that this may well have been an accidental drop but not necessarily in an unintended target area. In other words, is it possible or likely that the training run may have had the focus of targeting a populated area or a specific target within a populated area and it just so happened that during this training they accidentally released the dummy bomb? This may or not be the case here but for some reason that thought has been stuck in my head as a definite possibility. MS
You know maine, I have been thinking the same thigs. Along with the Military training raid in Oakland Ca, a few years ago I can't help but think that this is starting to get a bit too friendly with martial law and strategic air command squads bombing our own "terrorist cells" within a city. It don't feel right
It does not feel right, that's why I had to share it. Glad to see I'm not alone in my thought process here.
Could just be because I'm in the AF so I"m not totally objective, but we get plenty of practice blowing up individual targets within cities when we're in Iraq. Some dumb*$$ pilot probably just made an incredibly stupid but honest mistake.
I have worked with some of the national guards all over the US, and I could see them doing this by pure accident. I have met many great guys in NG units, but all too often I met many that weren't the sharpest tool in the shed.
When my dad was in the Marines in the 1950's he and another guy was sent out to find a bomb that someone had accidently dropped. They found it, called it in, and preceded to sit on it, while waiting for someone to show up and take it away. A bunch of guys in hazmat type suits showed up-turned out it was a nuke that hadn't been actually set to go off-dad said the dr.s spent quite a bit of time making sure the two of them didn't get radiation sickness, but it figured that they sent two dumb farm kids right out of basic to look for it and didn't bother to tell them what it was. Like dad said, you learned not to question orders, you just did it.
