Watching this makes me think of HOA's. HOA's police the suburban neighborhoods and seems like the county cleans up the unincorporated areas. County regulations are pretty strict and I am sure in CA they have lots of rules and laws that the people really have never voted on.
It seems to be about control be cause the county is asking for permits but will not issue permits unless you do as they say. I think I read a thread on here about someone who wanted to build an off grid cabin but couldn't get a well drilled without the county's approval.
A good portion of inspectors are just flunkies. They couldn't make it in the tools. A fence and some dogs will keep a lot of them away. They prefer the easy pickings.
They drive by. Most of them just sit in their trucks taking pictures. If they see something they consider an eye sore they file a citation.
^Correct. Living amongst the trees helps.
Move to Alaska.... We don't have Counties.... and if you are outside a Borough, or City, there are NO Property Taxes, or Regulations, like Building Codes.... If you build it, and it fails, it is nothing but YOUR Fault,,,, You didn't build it right, in the first place....
One phrase applies -
Follow the money.
It does makes one blood boil, doesn't it. We poor, naïve Americans who think we are so free. What a joke...except it is not.
I was very careful when I returned stateside NOT to purchase a home that had any HOA and specifically told the Realtor this. We do have a HOA but it is for the private access road so we all pay our share for upkeep - that's it.
I haven't been back two years yet and we already have been involved with a huge Developer trying to come in with money and connections to change the entire area. We managed to stop them via community organization but they will be back. This Developer made huge contributions to one of the County Commissioner trying to get a zoning change then, when that wouldn't work, trying to back door the process. Our area is zoned rural but is prime for expansion because of good major road access.
It basically comes down to a huge imbalance of government vs. the people. I think we all want progress but it should be progress the people desire. Government has become too strong, too uncompromising, too inflexible - but only when it is about the common people; we serfs. The French resolved a lot of these problems with a guillotine during their revolution. Perhaps we, and even more so, the simpletons that perform this 'heavy handed' government should take note of history.
Well it is California... what did you expect?
Has anyone heard of agenda 21?
There are videos that go into greater detail of you do a quick search. I'm just posting this one to give a brief summary of what it is. I believe this is related to what is happening.
First rule of survival don't live in California unless you are way out in the boonies, any part of new York or NJ.
We have. Lots.
Ever think about organizing some kind of defence to guard against it?
Agenda 21 or code enforcement? Both are hard to battle because many, too many like to have others make decisions for them. I am afraid they will wake up too late.
That's part of why I think it should start off with a more closely knit, off grid community. A place where families can live and the community can grow and expand legally until they have a size that everyone can put their foot down and say that they demand sovereignty and the rights bestowed upon them by their forefathers to be free. I would see that as the ultimate form of protest.
But then I can see how that could lead to a court order to vacate. Warrants would be issued and police in swat gear would roll up. But if the people of the community do not surrender and only display a defensive strategy to resist then a message will be sent to the rest of the world. The message would be about what was fought for and that is freedom from an oppressive government. Even if it's an utter failure, I think it would do a good job to wake the rest of the world up. Everyone would talk about the stand that was made. It could be the first domino to fall.
The 'imbalance' is because of rat ba$tartds in 'government' who are for sale to the highest bidder. Just like high priced hookers.
IF you take the time to study UN agenda 21, a lot of these questions would be answered.
