    Explosion rocks US Greek embassy
An explosion has rocked the US embassy compound in the Greek capital, Athens, police say.

Police have surrounded the heavily-guarded building and cordoned off the area.

There was no immediate information about what caused the blast, and no word on any damage or injuries.

Fire engines rushed to the scene amid reports of an explosion at the heavily-fortified building in the centre of the city.

TV pictures showed a mass of emergency vehicles and stationary traffic outside the embassy as the area was sealed off.
