'Farmers of Forty Centuries' is excellent.... I have this in hard copy. The books recommended in the Earthworm area are too dated IMHO and not appropriate for anyone gardening in the US in a formally glaciated region and actually not too appropriate for anywhere else on the continent of North America either. Another book not listed for anyone whose interested in furthering their personal knowledge base on how to become more self-reliant would be, 'One Straw Revolution', "The One-Straw Revolution" by Masanobu Fukuoka Soil and Health Library. I'm really excited about this post. Lots of "free" reading that should be fruitful.
