First off, I want to tell y'all I don't follow soccer...I mean football...I mean that game they play with the round ball. Secondly, I want to apologize to all of the Australian Monkeys for the beating that the USA gave y'all (I wish Chello was still around), but somebody had to lose and I'm glad it wasn't us. With a little luck we should beat Turkey on Thursday. What I'm finding really amazing is the reaction of the Football Hordes to America, apparently, they love us! They love our food, fast food restaurants, beer, drinks with ice, free refills, people, and especially Ranch Dressing! Taco Bell, Rasin' Cain, Waffle House are some of the favorite restaurants, and everybody loves Buck-ees! The Scots have drunk Boston dry, so they had to relocate to another town. As I heard it, the Scots drank everything except the Bud Light. They can out drink the Irish two-to-one, maybe three-to-one. Sam Adams can't make beer fast enough to keep up. Everyone had better stock up on Ranch Dressing cause there is gonna be a shortage for sure. The folks that came to America for the FILA World Championship Games are not the elites that love to look down upon everything American, these are regular folks, kinda like Alabama football fans that travel to away games. I hope they all have a good time, and that Team USA wins it all. Now they understand why we air-condition everything and carry bottles of water everywhere we go.
I am glad they are getting a little "culture". Even if that cutesie roundball game ain't true "football"!
I saw a guy online that said we should have a new rule: If the US beats your team in the World Cup, you have to refer the sport as “soccer” in your country until you beat us at a future World Cup.
People complain that baseball "is too slow and boring". These folks have obviously never been forced to watch an entire soccer match. Or Cricket....
I'm an American Football fan, particularly University of Alabama football. That's what I grew up with, I understand the rules, like the pace of the game and the scoring makes sense, but that's just me. I can't stand baseball, basketball, tennis, golf, hockey, and soccer. Hell, I'd rather watch curling and figure skating, although I do enjoy track and field, and swimming. Rugby and Irish Football can also be entertaining. I'm betting that that game they play on horse-back with a dead sheep would be fun to watch, and I'm surprised that it hasn't caught on here in America.
