    I agree, nice stuff.
My Fire Piston worked just OK and would be fine for emergencies, the inconsistent assembly line quality was fine for the "as used" part but not close enough to work well each time. So I'll make another type and then send pictures of both. The first is a "as found parts" and with the second I'll have to do some Lathe and solder work so it may be a bit more than some have the tools to make.

    Bear,
THANK YOU!! I have yet to have a minute to actually try it out, but it looks amazing. Truly blessed and humbled by your generosity.
I am on the hunt for an appropriate thank you.

    Best Regards

Well, the Mail Plane arrived, and lo and behold there was a Small FlatRate Box from my BEAR Buddy.... After opening it up and seeing the contents, both Momma, and I, can only say .... "WOW!!!!!" Momma couldn't believe the extra Goodies, you packed in there... Now she is trying to figure out just what she wants to make, with them. The Fire Kit was a BIG Hit, with the Close Neighbors, who were here for their Mail, and a slice of Pizza. The "Question of the Day" was "Does he mine his own flint?" and "Does he plan on selling these Kits any time soon?" So, we are in your debt, Bear... These are Beautiful.... and will be traveling with us, when we Road Trip around the FlatLands next month.....

    Aloha @BTPost ,
Glad it finally arrived and safely...
Happy that you and Momma enjoyed the little "extras"...
LOL... I wish there was a source of good flint here in the islands... I get mine from a guy I know and it is some of the very best stuff for knapping and sparks...
I've got a bunch of the "Smalls" kits almost ready and 3 of the larger sizes I just forged that are up in my latest pics... yup... I'll be contacting those who were interested... let me know if anyone up there is interested :0)
Nope debts between friends ... at least not Monkeys and Bears :0)...
Thanks for the kind words... I really enjoy making these and enjoy it even more when folks like them :0)
I hope they serve you well and strike many warm fires for you and Momma...
    Take Care,
    Bear

@Bear, what is the name and source of the wood you used on the cleaver?

  20. Bear

Bear Monkey+++ Founding Member Iron Monkey

@kellory that wood is cedar burl... it is stabilized all the way through with resins... I picked it up years ago... like 8 if I recall... but it was from a guy who stopped doing it and went on to do other things... I lost contact with him... bummer.... I was looking for some more as well but haven't found a source... I'm sure you can find cedar burl though somewhere :0)
