Happiness is when the Genset starts, after the lights go out....... Sadness is when the Genset doesn't start, and Momma is yelling "Where are the lights?"
Happiness is that moment when the weather man says the evil snow word, sending the masses to the store. I don't have to join them.
Happiness is: Power goes out....... I turn on a couple LED lanterns..... Turn on the battery fan...... Turn on the battery radio.... Read a good book, or do some chore, til it's time to sack out. Cook a quick meal on the gas camping stove - or just munch an MRE or a can of cold Ravioli. My house may be 'all electric' but I can get by without it for awhile.
Happiness is when you come in for a hurricane evac from offshore, and the family has already boarded up the house, packed the vehicles with all supplies, and is ready to roll north.. And the kids grabbed more ammo cans than you would have.. lol
When they say the temp will drop another 10 degrees and propane just hit a record high. Putting another log in the stove and just sitting back in my t shirt
Living a simple Country live is priceless. Most people in large cities dream to live the life I live. I will say all this prepping mess tends to be a headach, but Im trying and Im also certain at this point in time is very necessary.
Happiness for me is during the power failure or snow storm looking at my family warm, stomachs full of food playing a game as if nothing went wrong or when it over the smile on their faces from the camping trip in the living room floor. Life is great and the simple things make me the happiest and knowing that I can handle the worst making it a little easier for them.
Happiness is knowing you, your family and neighbors have utterly NO use for FEMA. We take care of OURSELVES.
Happiness is knowing you picked the right woman when she tells you to grab all the canning lids the store has on display.
Happiness is being at work when snowmageden is forecast and watch everyone trying to find gensets or figure out if their hi tech fireplace works without power and there asking the prepper nut for advice.
Happiness is ... scoring an old Onan Genset for $200 dollars because it won't run, and finding out that all it needs was a good cleaning for the carb and a new set of plug wires. knowing that after 2 divorces, you finally found a woman that is as serious about prepping as you are and thinks spending $200.00 on a genset is a great deal. watching your eldest compete in competive shooting. finding out that your boys have grown into good, well-rounded men and that they give you the credit for it. having a former student bring you a trailer load of split white oak, just to repay a debt that you had forgotten, but he had not. going to sleep at night knowing that you have made a difference in one young mans life. a long life with the right people. Gafarmboy If you can not protect what you own, you won't own it long.
