While I'm seemingly on a ramapage about everything that's pissin me off lately, I want to tell a story of something that happened to me. Do Not Use 1-800-CALLATT Remember the commercials with "Carrot Top" the comedian.... " just dial down the center 1800callatt, it's free for you and cheap for them" This was a couple years ago, my wife was in an accident and called me collect from the emergency room, she wasn't badly hurt but needed me to come get her. When I got the phone bill, the 2 minute call was $40. I called AT&T to ask what was going on, and the guy told me the rate from that phone was 20 bucks a minute. I said, "this can't be" and I quoted the tv commercial with "carrot top". I told him that in nobody's imagination is 20 bucks a minute "cheap". He said he hadn't seen the commercial. Then he told me that the charge varies according to where the phone is located, and that emergency room payphones are more. What?! Emergency room phones are more?! You mean to tell me that you gouge prices on calls from people in crisis at the emergency room just because you can? That's one of the slimiest things I've ever heard of! "Well sir, I'm not the one that sets the prices". No, but you're the guy I'm talking to about it. I'll give you $3 a minute for the call which is more than 20 times what I usually pay. I still don't think it's cheap but I'll settle for it. "Sir we can't do that" You can't or you won't. "Sir, you made the call, you have to pay for it" No, I will not pay 20 bucks a minute, ever. You're pieces of sh**, and your taking advantage of people in a hospital, you should all be shot for being so slimy, and I will rot in hell before AT&T ever gets a penny from me for the rest of my life. And then, the guy tries to sell me on a new calling package. I was absolutely stunned! I told the guy....... you realize that you're trying to sell your product to someone who just said you are scum and should be killed? "yes sir, I do." End of the story...... They have never collected that money and never will. I'll go without a phone before I ever use AT&T for anything, ever. End of rant.
