If you’ve taken a TC3 class from somewhere, the SOF Medical Handbook is a solid refresher, with a solid outline of the principles and methods, as well as step-by-step procedures for various other medical skills. It won’t replace real training, but it does what it was designed to do perfectly–serve as a handy reference, to shove in your aid bag. Greg Thompson’s book is a better introduction to many of the concepts of the Modern Army Combatives Program (MACP) and the Special Operations Combative Program (SOCP) that developed from it (I will say, a lot of his edged-weapons stuff is questionable at best, and the knife thing he designed is…….well……not particularly well thought out, in my estimation, having spent some time now with my hands on one. It can be made to work, but that’s about the best I can say about it.
